Carol McLeod is a Freelance Copywriter/Content Marketing Strategist with 10 years experience as a writer in the marketing communications, alternative energy, non-profit and travel/tourism sectors.
Carol has written copy for various industries and on a variety of topics. From a weekly newspaper column about the YMCA, to Content Writer/Editor of a women’s networking magazine, to providing marketing and publicity for a growing Storytelling Festival, Carol has demonstrated the ability to consistently provide excellent communications and marketing skills.
Carol writes white papers, case studies, content marketing campaigns, articles, news releases, sales letters, direct mail packages, grants, sponsorship packages, and other marketing materials clients need in order to sell their products and services.
In 2008, Carol was named Festival Coordinator for the St Marys Storytelling Festival. Prior to this, Carol was Marketing and Promotions Coordinator with the Festival for 3 years, and served as a member of the Board of Directors for one year. During this time she had the opportunity to participate in workshops and learn from some of the best nationally and internationally acclaimed storytellers. This flair for storytelling is evident in her writing.
Carol’s work has been featured in area newspapers and magazines, and was interviewed for the Business Section of the London Free Press in February 2007 on “Work in Your Bathrobe Day” - a day to celebrate work-from-home entrepreneurs. She is also publisher of Contented Copy, a blog about using content marketing and social media for B2B companies.
Carol is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, with a B.A. (Honours) in English Language and Literature. She actively pursues education in all its forms, and has studied under award winning Canadian author and copywriter Steve Slaunwhite. Most recently, Carol attended the White Paper Success Summit 2009 led by leading white paper expert Michael Stelzner. Many successful copywriters were presenters at this year’s summit, including Bob Bly, Peter Bowerman, Steve Slaunwhite, and Gordon Graham. She was also an attendee at the Social Media Success Summit 2009 led by Michael Stelzner, featuring presentations with Social Media gurus like Brian Clark, Darren Rowse, Gary Vaynerchuck, Mari Smith, and more.
